ENIGMA
Here, we see through a glass darkly, but there face to face...There, riddles shall be unraveled, mysteries made plain, dark texts enlightened, hard providences made to appear wise. The meanest soul in heaven knows more of God than the greatest saint on earth...Not our mightiest divines understand so much of theology as the lambs of the flock of glory. Not the greatest master-minds of earth understand the millionth part of the mighty meanings which have been discovered by souls emancipated from clay.
---Charles Haddon Spurgeon, Spurgeon's Gems
I FALL DOWN A LOT
To find beauty in imperfection.
Every moment is full and is beautiful. Self-absorbed in its own fashion. Enjoy every minute. The present belongs to it.
It's a fruitless endeavor, for our souls will never meet halfway...
And knowing this, I die a little each and everyday...
I waited for the impossible, for the soul I sought will never find mine.
All things work together for good, to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose. Rom 8:28
The special gift and ability of each creature defines its special limitations. Elizabeth Elliot
Wherever you are be all there. Live to the hilt to every situation you believe to be the will of God.
You can't talk about the idea of equality and the idea of self-giving in the same breath. You can talk about partnership, but it is the partnership of the dance. If two people agree to dance together they agree to give and take, one to lead and the one to follow. This is what a dance is. Insistence that both lead means there won't be any dance. It is the woman's delighted yielding to the man's lead that gives him freedom. It is the man's willingness to take the lead that gives her freedom. Acceptance of their respective position frees them both and whirls them into joy. If you can understand your womanhood in this light, you will know fullness of life. (Elliot, Let Me Be a Woman:Love Means a Cross)
"The fact that I am a woman does not make me a different kind of Christian, but the fact that I am a Christian does make me a different kind of woman. For I have accepted God's idea of me, and my whole life is an offering back to Him of all that I am and all that He wants me to be." - Elisabeth Elliot
The Scribbler
- Kaleidoscope
- My mind wanders, as i scrupulously speculate, how my life metamorphosed, like a fuzzy, green caterpillar into an astonishing butterfly, from a carefree, giddy girl to a half sophisticated-half siren. From the time i recapitulate, my diminutive accomplishments, and figured that there is nothing left to boast, but an ambiguous, uncomely candor, of the vicissitudes of my existence, i resolve to alter my caliginous predestination. My quest for Utopian abode dwells surreptitiously, beyond my acquisitive, hypothetical imagination, that amidst this thwarting turmoil of a tormenting journey, lies beneath is the pulchritude, of a tranquil placid state, that i succinctly depict. But uncertain ere my dreams no longer transpire, oblivious of the circumstances ahead, equivocal if i can surmount grotesque, arduous endeavor, ergo, i shun to momentarily condone this agony, still hearkening that hereafter, afflictions be transformed to bliss, foe to comrade, arraignment to exoneration, apprehensions to nonchalance and nonentity to reality. This is the kaleidoscope of my classical passion.
